About Sandusky, OH - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Sandusky, Ohio is a town which has owed its livelihood to the tourism industry for over 100 years. The town was originally settled in the mid-1700s, and formally established in 1818. Prior to the Civil War, Sandusky was known for being a major stop on the Underground Railroad and was later a major railroad hub and a center for paper-making. In 1870, however, an enterprising local businessman opened a bathhouse, dance floor and beer garden on the Cedar Point Peninsula, and it grew in popularity over the years. Fairground rides and attractions were added as early as the 1890s, and today Cedar Point is a major amusement park known for its numerous roller coasters.
While Cedar Point may be the main tourist draw, Sandusky also lures visitors to its numerous Lake Erie islands, and its location midway between Toledo and Cleveland makes it a convenient destination for vacationing Ohioans. Local attractions include the African-themed Kalahari, which has the nation's largest indoor water park, as well as the Ghostly Manor Thrill Center and Great Wolf Lodge, which has a large indoor water park of its own. While Sandusky winters may be a good time to enjoy the warm waters of these heated indoor pools, summertime brings barge parties to Sandusky Bay as well as the Toast of Ohio Wine Festival and the Erie County Fair.
