About Fremont, OH - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Fremont, Ohio, county seat of Sandusky County, began as a late 18th-century settlement known as Lower Sandusky. Due to its location on the Sandusky River, it became an important shipbuilding center in the mid-19th century, and it also had an agriculture-based manufacturing industry which included the state's first sugar mill. The city changed its name in 1849 to honor John C. Fremont upon the occasion of his acquiring California as a U.S. territory. Fremont was home to Rutherford B. Hayes, who served as governor of Ohio before being elected the 19th president of the United States in 1876. The Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center is today one of Fremont's top attractions, and the grounds at Spiegel Grove are administered by the National Park Service. Another tourist destination is the Fremont Speedway, which hosts sprint car and dirt truck races on Saturday nights.

Fremont summer weather tends to be mild and pleasant, and the town holds many of its major events during this season. The downtown Art and Music Festival takes place each July, as does the Summer Fest hosted by Sacred Heart Parish. August brings the Sandusky County Fair, which has been held every year since 1852 except for the centennial year, 1862, when it was canceled due to the Civil War. In December, the fairgrounds open up again for the annual “Winter Wonderland”, where hardy souls who dare to brave the frigid nighttime temperatures can enjoy a walk-through of the holiday lights. Drive-through viewing is also available for those who prefer to stay warm while enjoying the seasonal cheer.
