Company History
Our story began in 1860 as Mertz Manufacturing. Nearly seven decades later, Franklin Hohler joined the original owners. He purchased the company in 1929 and renamed it Hohler Furnace & Sheet Metal.
That purchase began a tradition of continuous family ownership that still shapes how we work. We’re proud to carry forward a legacy of hands-on craftsmanship and service to Northwest Ohio.

By the time Franklin Hohler purchased the company, it had already served the community for nearly 70 years. The Hohler family built on that foundation under a new name.
In the early 1950s, Franklin’s son joined the company after college and later took over its operation. His leadership carried the family’s commitment into its next generation.
Four Generations of Family Involvement
In 1983, Frank and his younger brother purchased the company together. Their ownership extended the family’s stewardship into another generation.
Today, the fourth generation is part of our story. Richard, the son of one of the owners, is involved in the company and plans to continue the family tradition.
Carrying Our Craftsmanship Forward in Sandusky
Our history continues to shape how we serve customers today. Based in Sandusky, we bring generations of experience to residential and commercial HVAC projects across Sandusky, Erie County, Ottawa County, and Northwest Ohio.
We combine established craftsmanship with modern HVAC technology, including in-house sheet metal capabilities for custom fabrication and system design. As a Bryant Factory Authorized Dealer, we meet rigorous standards for technical performance, training, and customer care.
