About Berlin Heights, OH - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Berlin Heights is a small town of just over 700 residents in Erie County, Ohio, but it has a very interesting history. It is located in the “Firelands” territory, which was named for early settlers who had to flee Connecticut after British troops set fire to their homes during the Revolutionary War. In the 1850s and 1860s Berlin Heights was home to a notorious “Free Love” colony called “Spirit Fruit”, whose members lived in a commune-type arrangement more than 100 years before these became popular. At that time Berlin Heights was also home to the Crystal Fountain Water-Cure Spa where chronic disease sufferers were treated with an early form of hydrotherapy.
Today Berlin Heights is more of a typical All-American small town, with a thriving historical society and a community orchestra. Farming plays a role in the local economy, with businesses such as Kamm Farms, the A.B. Phillips and Son Fruit Farm and the Quarry Hill Orchards and Winery. Winters in Berlin Heights can be cold and snowy, but spring and summer temperatures are mild and pleasant and the rainfall is moderate. Annual community events include a Memorial Day parade and ceremony in the spring, while fall brings downtown Halloween trick-or-treating.
