About Clyde, OH - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Clyde, Ohio was first settled in 1820, at which time the area was a forest on the edge of the Great Black Swamp. Things were hopping a century later, though, as numerous railroad lines ran through downtown and the Elmore Manufacturing Company started producing “brass era” automobiles. Clyde was even a reputed mobster hangout, earning it the nickname of “Little Chicago” at a time when Al Capone was reputed to have frequented its many taverns and nightclubs. Clyde also earned a place in history as the setting for the short story collection “Winesburg, Ohio”, authored by former resident Sherwood Anderson.

Today Clyde is a peaceful Northern Ohio town of about 6,500 residents. The Sleepy Hollow Golf Course has been welcoming golfers for over 50 years, and geocaching is another popular local sport. The Clyde Historical Museum hosts numerous family programs and events throughout the spring and summer season when Clyde enjoys weather that is usually pleasant, perhaps on the humid side but seldom swelteringly hot. Although the museum closes in September for the winter season, it opens up again for a special holiday open house where visitors sip cider and listen to holiday music. Costumed reenactors fill the grounds of the historic McPherson House, family home to General James B. McPherson, who was the second-highest ranking Union officer to be killed during the Civil War.
